Austin parent dressed as Easter bunny hands out condoms to elementary school kids

A Texas school district is reviewing its safety protocols after a parent allegedly dressed up as an Easter Bunny and handed out condoms to elementary school children in Austin.

“We are working to review our safety protocols to make sure this doesn’t happen again,” a spokesperson for the Austin Independent School District told KXAN. “It was an incredibly negligent and inappropriate action by a parent.”

A parent at Gullet Primary School is said to have dressed up as an Easter bunny and was handing out Easter eggs to youngsters at the school during collection time earlier this month. Most of the eggs contained candy, although some of them had unopened condoms, according to a letter sent to the Gullett families, the outlet reported.

The parent was asked to leave, but he moved onto a sidewalk and continued to distribute the eggs. School officials have since spoken to the parent about the “inappropriate nature of their activity,” KXAN reported. The school noted that it was “not a planned, nor school-sanctioned event.”

A relative, Nathan Jensen, posted on Twitter Thursday about the case, joking, “I’m not sure this is the weird Austin I signed up for.” Jensen continued in the thread that there was “nothing political here”, explaining that the “bad eggs” would have been distributed.

“Update: A pharmacist was running a clinic in a bunny costume on safer sex. She picked up her 2nd grade student in a costume and handed her candy. She was harassed by kids, ran out of candy, and called her husband. Her husband brought the wrong eggs. Chaos ensued,” he tweeted later of what would have happened.

The Austin Independent School District did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
