Flip the red Easter eggs
The new Disney Pixar movie, turn red, is set in the Canadian city of Toronto, and the mostly Canadian cast is raving about it. During the film’s press conference last week, producer Lindsey Collins exclaimed: “a ton of Canadians work at Pixar, and obviously some are on the team.” Director Domee Shi went on to say that the film is “a love letter to Tornotoand by all Easter eggs of the city who entered the film, all should agree. Images of Toronto pride are ubiquitous throughout the film, from images of the Toronto Blue Jays to the purple basketball jerseys worn by the Toronto Raptors.
Turning Red The cast and filmmakers realize the crew did a ton of research on the set and neighborhoods the film was shot in. Along with the setting, the film is based in the early 2000s and the film also stays true to its era. Maitreyi Ramakrishnan said: “For me it was really cool to see the good old Skydome instead of the Rogers Center. It’s a step back. And Hyein Park exclaims, “The first thing I noticed was the CN Tower.”
