Local organizations offering Easter eggs as fundraisers

March 31 – Waking up on Easter to find a yard full of eggs delivered by the Easter Bunny is sure to be a wonderful surprise for anyone, regardless of age. Egg My Yard has quickly become one of the hottest Easter fundraising trends across the country. This fun and creative way to delight friends and family of all ages has caught on in the Athens-Limestone area, and several organizations and groups in the area are currently taking orders for a festive egg drop.

“A dancer mom of mine had the idea to do this fundraiser, and it’s been a hit for three years,” said Studio H Dance Company, LLC owner Hayley Holt. “This was actually a huge success and the most fun of any fundraiser we’ve done. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go to our company dancers (competition) to help defray the costs of the competition .”

A person can choose how many eggs to deliver, and the eggs are filled with surprise candies and other Easter treats. For children with food allergies, candy-free eggs are an option. The area that groups can cover is limited.

Egg delivery dates vary depending on the fundraiser, but many have multiple dates to choose from, as well as alternate plans in case of inclement weather. The Easter Bunny will definitely leave a note explaining the situation.

Studio H Dance Company is one of the few groups taking commissions. The East Limestone High School Class of 2023, Athens Pi Beta Sigma Sorority, and the Athens-Limestone Hospital Foundation also choose Egg My Yard as their spring fundraiser.

This is the second year the ELHS Class of 2023 has chosen fundraising.

“Last year the kids delivered 1,500 eggs and it helped them reach their necessary goal for prom,” said parent Kristy Dollar. “We have people donating money for other kids to make sure everyone has a fun Easter. Our kids really enjoyed it last year.”

Parents of the ELHS Class of 2023 drive “delivery teams” to their destination to keep everyone safe while monitoring each location.
