Northamptonshire Mrs Claus turns the Easter Bunny with irresistible appeal

Northamptonshire’s own Mrs. Claus trades in her famous red costume for fluffy ears to ensure children in need have an Easter wedge of treats.
Former social worker and all-around good egg, Jeanette Walsh, spends much of the year working as Mrs. Claus organizing a gift appeal for the county’s most needy children and families.
But she has now sprang into action as the Easter Bunny with an irresistible call to deliver Easter treats to vulnerable children.
Jeanette has teamed up with Nando’s, where she works part-time as a host, in Northamptonshire to collect thousands of Easter eggs to bring some springtime joy to children who would otherwise go without.
She said: “Who doesn’t love a little chocolate? Children from disadvantaged families deserve a little treat. Many children get a lot more from an Easter egg.
“Last year we collected 6,137 eggs. This year I would like to collect more.”
Jeanette has seen the families she helps struggle more and more as the cost of living rises rapidly and fuel bills rise.
She said: “Young people leaving care don’t have the ‘mom and dad bank’ to fall back on. If we can provide an Easter egg, that’s a few more pounds that can be spent on it. essential.
“Kids won’t feel left out seeing their friends with a dozen eggs. It can give kids a bit of normalcy.”
People can donate Easter eggs to Jeanette’s call at Nando’s restaurant drop-off points in Corby, Kettering, Rushden Lakes and Northampton.
She will then distribute them to social services staff throughout the county who care for the children, including the leaving team and the special guardianship team.
Lorena Kondrov, Assistant Manager of Northampton Nando’s, said: “We have been helping Jeanette for many years and are proud to be able to help again.
“We want to support the children of Northamptonshire by helping Jeanette.”
