Rediscover the joys of Easter Sunday

WITH the seemingly endless days of staying at home especially the children who were kept inside the crowd for two long years, it was such a relief when the resorts on Samal Island gave up their strict measures and restrictions for the elderly and children.

While Holy Week was all about prayer and religious ceremonies, Easter Sunday was a celebration we enjoyed with all the activities prepared by Chema’s By the Sea in the Island Garden City of Samal, now run by Discovery Shores .

The boat ride from the pier at the Waterfront Insular Davao hotel was only a few minutes on the calm waters of the Gulf of Davao. We were handed welcome drinks upon arrival at the resort which left us feeling relaxed and invigorated.

.A Dog Training Institute dog training demonstration topped the day’s scheduled activities, along with a Pet Selfie contest, Pet Show/Best in Show Pets.

After having a sumptuous lunch, the children rushed to the garden, where brightly painted eggs were hidden under the bushes for the exciting egg hunt.

The mothers had an exciting part of the game, teaching their children where to look for eggs and looking for the biggest egg that had the grand prize of the day – a night at the resort.

An Egg Art Painting activity for children followed at the restaurant and a. Pizza making session hosted by pastry chef Mymy which they enjoyed after tasting their own crispy pineapple, ham and cheese pizza.

The white sand and calm waters drew us to the beach in the afternoon, where even wading or floating in the water gave us a relaxed feeling away from the noise of the city.

The evening was spent in the cool cabana next to the dining room, where dinner was prepared by our favorite chef Mikhail Anthony Prada Rioflorido and Mark Anthony Camo, F&B Service Team Leader. from the resort, Jessica Segura also joined us for dinner.

The good news is that there will be an Early Bird promotion for June and July bookings 20% off if bookings are made this month for a stay in June or July.
