The Coliseum theater will be abuzz on Saturday.
The venue at 404 Taylor Street is hosting a new Easter-themed event for the family from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the opportunity for professional photos with the Easter Bunny, an egg hunt, arts and crafts and other activities. The cost is $25 per family, regardless of the number of family members, and it is a fundraiser for the historic site.
“We try to schedule events over the holidays,” said Coliseum manager Patrick Hudson. “The goal is to allow families to celebrate Easter in a creative way. Kids can make arts and crafts they can take home. They go home with a basket of treats, and the family gets the photos of the Easter bunny they really want.
“Hoppin’ at the Coliseum” will include an egg hunt in the garden. A rabbit race and Easter-themed games will entertain the children.
The event will also include a raffle for adults, with prizes such as a gift certificate to a local nursery and an oil change and tire rotation.
Moments with the Easter Bunny will be staggered to help families have a better experience interacting with the character.
Photos will be taken and printed in five-by-seven format on location by Starbright Images, locally owned by Brandy and Zack Steen. The same service has been offered for the Father-Daughter Ball for several years.
Funds raised from the event will be used to support educational outreach programs, such as providing craft supplies for camps. The arts council’s educational season will begin in May.
